The gospel (or ‘good news’) is that God in Christ has reconciled lost human beings to himself. He sent his Son to seek them out, offer them love and forgiveness, and bring them under the rule of God. In this Kingdom they are reconciled to their heavenly
Father, and to each other, and are sent on a mission: to be agents of reconciliation in a divided world.

Friday 2nd - Sunday 4th December

Within the next couple of weeks a letter will be sent out to 40 plus organisations with the required details of THEME etc.    Also a meeting will be held to discuss the 'setting-up' and possible stalls for those wishing

to become part of this year’s organising 'Team'.

Please speak to Glenys or myself if you will be willing to undertake a task.

Dear Friends
On the very sad news of the death of Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II our thoughts and prayers are with her son, His Royal Majesty King Charles III,

and the rest of the Royal Family at this difficult time.

At noon today both St Decuman’s and St Peter’s will toll a bell to mark the death of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
In each church a condolence book will be available for those who would like to write a message. There will also be candles to light to say a prayer.
If you wish you can also go onto the Church of England website and leave a message on their online condolence book.
During our services on Sunday there will be the opportunity to reflect on the death of Queen Elizabeth and to celebrate her long service to God and country.

We will keep you informed of further church events as they unfold.

Gracious God,
We give thanks for the life of your Servant, Queen Elizabeth,
For her faith and dedication to duty.
Bless our nation as we mourn her death
And may her example continue to inspire us.
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.    Amen
Revd Mark
May she rest in peace and rise in glory.

They are two separate courses, which will share some common elements and which we will

Exploring Pastoral Care can form the training component for becoming a Lay Pastoral

These courses might be for you if you:
▪ are prayerful, want to find out more about worship or pastoral care;

The Collect

Almighty God, who called your Church to bear witness that you were in Christ reconciling the world to yourself:
help us to proclaim the good news of your love, that all who hear it may be drawn to you;
through him who was lifted up on the cross, and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and
for ever. Amen.

The Trustees of two local charities, The Mary Huxtable Sutton Relief in Need Trust and the St Decuman’s Parish Trust, which give grants to people in need and for the maintenance and repair of St Decuman’s Church, are looking for a new Secretary. The Trustees generally meet every two months, and the Secretary’s work probably takes between 4 – 10 hours a month.

If you might be interested in taking on this role, please speak to Mark, Tony Knight or Sarah Lander, who are amongst the Trustees.

The Music Group practises at Holy Cross Chapel on Fridays from 2.30pm – 3.45pm.

Seafarers Service
On Sunday 23rd October CTiWW are holding a Seafarers Service

at 10.30am on the Esplanade, or the Methodist Church if wet.

The service will be led by the Coastguard Chaplain,

celebrating the 200th anniversary of the

And the week after...
The annual Quantock deanery service will be at Greatwood on Sunday 30th October at 10.30am,
followed by lunch (more details to come). It was a lovely occasion last year and would be good to
see as many, if not more, of us attend this year. It would be great if we car share as much as
possible. Please speak to Mark or one of the churchwardens if you need a lift.

There will be no service at St Decuman’s that week, as it is a fifth Sunday and would have been St
Peter’s turn to host. A short communion service will be held at St Peter’s at 8.30am, allowing Mark
(and his SatNav) time to find his way around the Quantock lanes!
