The Collect
Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ fasted forty days in the wilderness, and was tempted as we are, yet without sin: give us grace to discipline ourselves in obedience to your Spirit, and, as you know our weakness, so may we know your power to save; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
Baptism Anniversary Cards
Is anyone able to take on the role of writing and sending baptism anniversary cards?
This hasn’t been done for a while now and we would love to
re-start it in both churches.
Please speak to Mark or one of the churchwardens
if you would like to help.

Prayers
We are holding in our thoughts and prayers: Christopher, Jane,
Janet, Sara, Peter, Fay, Alice, Naomi and Edna.
If you would like to be included on the Prayer List, please let Mark, Sarah or Sue know..
Lent (the ‘lengthening’ of the days) is an old English word meaning Spring. In earliest times it was observed by those who were preparing for their Baptism at Easter. Later the 40 days of Lent were identified with the 40 days when Jesus was tested in the wilderness. It is an opportunity for Christians humbly to re-examine their lives and through prayer, study and self-denial, to renew their love for God.
Both churches will usually be open
every day during daylight hours.
CAMEO (Come and Meet Each Other)
CAMEO continues on Thursdays in St Peter’s church, 10am-12pm. Everyone welcome to drop in for coffee and chat. Please speak to George or Sue if you have any questions.
The Bible Course
starts on Wednesday 1st March
in the Meeting room Williton.
For those who are planning to attend, there is an opportunity to have your own course book which costs £5.
This is entirely optional and you do not need it to follow the course. If you would like to buy one there will be a sign-up sheet in each church on
Sunday, or e-mail Mark.
Prayers for the People of Ukraine
As we mark the anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine, a prayer for Ukraine, written by our archbishops at the start of the war;
God of peace and justice, we pray for the people of Ukraine today.
We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons.
We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow,
that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them.
We pray for those with power over war or peace,
for wisdom, discernment and compassion to guide their decisions.
Above all, we pray for all your precious children, at risk and in fear,
that you would hold and protect them.
We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
Amen

Archbishop Stephen Cottrell

WORLD DAY OF PRAYER
A SERVICE FOR EVERYONE
Friday 3rd March at 2pm
Watchet Methodist Church
Theme: “I have heard about your faith” (from Ephesians 1)
A service written by women from Taiwan
Our sisters in Taiwan are sending us blessings with the service they have prepared for World Day of Prayer 2023.
Taiwan is an island rich in natural resources and culturally diverse. The women of Taiwan share the issues faced
geographically, politically and socially and also their hopes for the future. Let us join with them as we give thanks for
the beautiful island and people of Taiwan and encourage one another in our faith just as Apostle Paul did in his letters.
