Almighty and everlasting God,
you are always more ready to hear than we to pray and to give more than either we desire or deserve:
pour down upon us the abundance of your mercy, forgiving us those things of which our conscience is afraid and giving us those good things which we are not worthy to ask but through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

Halswell House and grounds, and Mill Wood with the lakes and Temple of Harmony will be open with some guided tours available; guides will also be on hand at the church to provide an insight into the history of its significant collection of tombs and monuments and their links to the families of Halswell House. This year, Robin Hood Hut (Landmark Trust) will also be open. There will be a trail map available showing a suggested route.
Refreshments will again be available at the church.

The Collect today reminds us of the astonishingly generous gifts of God. They are ‘more than either we desire or deserve’, and include Christ’s forgiveness of our sins and the Spirit’s unlimited resources. But this ‘grace’ of God is also experienced in everyday events – such as the care given and received in close human relationships. We celebrate God’s grace in our worship together now.

What are Exploring Worship and Exploring Pastoral Care?
‘Exploring Worship’ and ‘Exploring Pastoral Care’ are courses with the following elements:
▪ Understanding our communities
▪ What is Worship?
▪ What is Pastoral Care
▪ Being a Worship Leader or Pastoral Assistant.
They are two separate courses, which will share some common elements and which we will
lead in tandem. Each person will only do one of the courses.
Exploring Worship can form the training component for becoming a Lay Worship Assistant.
Exploring Pastoral Care can form the training component for becoming a Lay Pastoral
Assistant. Those who would like to explore this should talk with their Rector.
Who can do Exploring Worship or Exploring Pastoral Care?
These courses might be for you if you:
▪ are prayerful, want to find out more about worship or pastoral care;
▪ are prepared to try new things and are willing to have a go;
The courses are practical and participants will be asked to prepare for and participate in the
sessions but only to a level you are comfortable with.
To join the course talk with your Rector and email email@example.com.

Watchet 1940s Weekend - 10th & 11th September
We are looking for volunteers to help with the lunches and teas at
Holy Cross during this weekend, from 12.00 - 5.00pm each day. This was a really successful and enjoyable event when we did it a few years ago.
We need people to help on one or both days, and also to make cakes, scones, etc.
All with a wartime/Forties theme.
Please contact Alan and Ellie, or Glenys, if you would like to join in the fun - it would help if you can let them know by Sunday 21st August what time you could offer and/or what food you could provide. Thank you.
